Otto Snoek (1966)

Hometown is Snoek’s lifetime photography project about his city Rotterdam, which he started in 1997.  As an independent documentary photographer, he is fascinated by cities. And Rotterdam in particular. Otto Snoek (1966, Rotterdam) considers Rotterdam his living room and its people his guests. Common people, trudging, strolling through a contemporary urban and leisure culture. At the mercy of the kind of prosperity found in a smoked HEMA sausage, a popular karaoke bar or a festival. Something which often enough results in alarming boredom and empty diversion. Something that Snoek’s social-critical eye is more than happy to observe.
