Description

These images came about during my discovery of photographers like Martin Parr, Joel Meyerrowitz and Henry Cartier-Bresson. I was fortunate to go on a workshop led by Matt Stuart who took the amazing shot of the pidgeon walking along with the black shoes of city workers Matt Stuart review at Streethunters

At this time I also discovered the work of Thomas Leuthard - an amazing photographer who literally holds a camera in the subject's face, takes the shot and moves on as if nothing has happened - frequently leaving the poor subject looking bewildered. His book Collecting Souls made a big impression on me: this style of photography raises many ethical issues - the lady in the mauve shirt and blue lanyard, in one of my shots here, called me a pedophile for taking their picture. (I suspect the "charity" they were raising money for may not have been entirely legitimate)

How close should you get? (Bruce Gilden). Is it OK to use a ring flash ( Martin Parr) I dont have any answers other than to say the average Londoner is being photographed many times a day by the authorities. I do like the fact that the Police Officer was OK having his picture taken whilst questioning me and another photographer outside Wimbledon.
